Foam rollers are used for self massage of the legs, hips and back. Using your body weight to “roll out” adhesions (scar tissue) is an effective way to increase flexibility of the muscles and fascia in the lower extremity. Common injuries treated with foam rollers are Runner’s Knee, Quadriceps & Hamstring Strains, and Piriformis Syndrome. Using a foam roller is also beneficial as part of a general stretching maintenance routine.
Foam rollers come in white (softest), black (firmer), and the Trigger Point Grid, which is the firmest material and will provide the deepest stretch as well as last the longest.
