Have you always wanted to run or walk a 5k but didn't know how to begin training? Maybe you are nervous or don't want to do it alone? Maybe you have had a hard time sticking to a training program in the past. If you answered "Yes" to any (or all!) of the above, this is the program for you!
Fleet Feet Sports is proud to partner with the Connecticut Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to offer this special training program for the 2012 Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure on June 2 in Bushnell Park. This 5k honors breast cancer survivors and raises funds to support breast cancer research and support programs right here in CT.
Our next session for this training program begins on Saturday, March 31 at 9am (meets at Fleet Feet Sports) and will last for 10-weeks. Cost is $120. The program culminates with the 2012 Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure (race entry fee IS included in the program fee).
Our goal is to introduce you to the lifetime fitness activities of running/walking and encourage you to live a healthier lifestyle in a fun and supportive environment. We use the "Galloway Method" which includes run/walk intervals and slowly ramps-up the time spent running and distance covered so even if you didn't exercise at all in 2011, you will be able to do this program and amaze yourself at what you are capable of in a short time.
Signing-up is the hardest part - but if you do that, we will be with you the rest of the way...and even make it FUN!
Practices usually last 30-60 min. We do run outside through the friendly neighborhoods of West Hartford, but don't worry about the cold. We'll teach you how to dress. Believe it or not, but many past participants learn to think that the cool air is refreshing! Do something good for yourself while supporting an amazing charity that helps so many of our friends and neighbors struggling with breast cancer right here in CT.
